Migrating from our old hosting packages to new hosting packages
There are a couple of things you should be aware of before you ask to be moved to our new hosting packages. They are:
- There is no automatic way to migrate hosting packages and billing accounts to the new system.
- Contents of email accounts and email accounts themselves can not be moved over to the new system.
- There is no Front Page Extensions support on the new hosting packages
- Statistics can not be moved over and AwStats is not supported on the new Linux hosting packages (only Webalizer statistics are available on new Linux hosting packages).
Linux-Only Issues
- We can move sites created through the Linux SiteBuilder but you will not be able to make any updates to these sides through an interface like the SiteBuilder, all updates will have to be made to the code itself.
- We can move applications installed through the Installatron however these are not compatible with the Installatron equivalent on the new system and so any future updates of these applications will have to be done manually.
Windows Only Issues
- Coldfusion and MSSQL 2000 are not supported on the new systems
Steps
1. First you will need to purchase a new hosting package through our new website at, www.blacknight.ie
- You will need to ensure you purchase the same type of hosting package as you currently have (e.g. purchase a Linux package if you currently have a Linux package , or purchase a Windows package if you currently have a Windows package with us).
- You will have to register as a new customer on the order form (unless you have a VPS package with us)
- You should use the "I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers only."
- Your domain name does *not* include the www. part, it is simply the domainname.com part
2. Set up hosting on your new hosting package
- The new system does not enable hosting on domains automatically
- You can enable hosting under: "Domain Overview" > "Domain Administration" > domainname.com > "Add Hosting"
- You will be adding Website (Apache) or Windows (IIS) hosting (depending on if you are on Linux or Windows)
3.Contact us through our Support desk and let us know you are ready to have your website files moved over. You can contact us by submitting a ticket at, support.blacknight.com
4. Once we confirm all website files have been moved over we will provide you with a temporary address you can test your website with.
5. If you are happy that the website looks ok then you can just ask us to point the domain to your new hosting package.
6.We will confirm when we have set this and you can then create email accounts on the new hosting package.
- This is done under: "E-mail" > "Email Addresses" > "Add New E-mail Address"
7. Then just let us know when you are ready to have the old hosting package cancelled.
